Day 1 :

Arrival in Muscat

Pick up your rental 4x4 on arrival in Muscat. Begin with the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, a masterpiece of modern Islamic building, then explore the lanes of Mutrah Souq, full of spices, crafts and frankincense, and stroll along the Mutrah Corniche at dusk.

Day 2 :

Muscat – a wadi – Wahiba Sands

After breakfast, drive inland across plains and mountains, stopping at a wadi to swim in its clear pools. At the edge of the Wahiba Sands, the camp’s 4x4 meets you (or switch to dune driving yourself) to cross the dunes. Enjoy the sunset and Omani hospitality at your desert camp.

Day 3 :

Wahiba Sands – Nizwa

After a peaceful desert morning, drive to Nizwa. Explore Nizwa Fort and its views over the oasis and mountains, and the lively Nizwa Souq.

Day 4 :

Nizwa – Jabal Akhdar

Drive to Birkat Al Mouz, an old village among date gardens and falaj channels, then up into the Hajar mountains to Jabal Akhdar (a 4x4 is required on this road), with its terraces, stone hamlets and deep gorges. Spend the afternoon on a walking trail or simply enjoy the cool air.

Day 5 :

Jabal Akhdar – Nakhal – Muscat

Drive down from the mountains to the oasis town of Nakhal. Visit Nakhal Fort beneath the Hajar mountains and relax at the warm springs, then drive back to Muscat for your last evening.

Day 6 :

Departure

After a last breakfast, drive to the airport in Muscat and hand back your 4x4.
